Costa Rica

Costa Rica has become
a well-known tourist destination.

There are many beautiful and interesting places in Costa Rica, all within a relatively small area of 51,000 km².There are two seasons: wet and dry. The wet, or green, season runs from May to December in the central plateau and the Pacific coast; the dry season lasts from January to April. However, in the Caribbean basin, it can rain year-round, except in October.
There are many interesting and fun tourist activities in Costa Rica. These include:
  • Nature hikes.
  • Birdwatching.
  • White water rafting.
  • Zip-line adventures among the treetops.
  • Visits to active volcanoes (Poás, Irazú, Arenal, among others).
  • Coffee plantation tours.
  • Day cruises to islands in the Pacific.
  • Visits to various beaches on the Pacific or Caribbean coasts (multi-day trips).
  • Scuba diving tours.
  • Boat adventures through rivers and canals.

Hotels can organize many of these tours through their operators, who in turn can provide more information and offer quotes.

Outside of San José, there are many mountain and beach hotels with a wide range of prices, from budget options to luxury.
