On 8 January the Copa del Café Press Conference was held to kick off the Copa 2025 activities. Speakers were James Tracy, President of the Costa Rica Country Club Board of Directors who welcomed the tennis press and reminisced about 59 previous Copas, going back to 1965. Luis Esteban Fernandez, President of the Tournament Committee, informed the press of the ITF player listing and showcased our 4 brand new state of the art covered courts that together with 4 existing covered courts make up the tournament venue.
Carlos Bravo, President of the Costa Rica Tennis Federation, informed the press of the importance of this J300 tournament, that for the first time will be an ITF indoor contest yet will feature 2 daily night matches on our outdoor Stadium Court. As more major world tournaments have covered stadiums, the once clear separation of indoor/outdoor is now not so clear. So it is important for the Copa 2025 to achieve a successful tournament that opens doors to this arrangement.
